Cactus. Gnarled and lightening-scorched pieces of wood. Computer components. Bicycle parts. Cast-away pieces of furniture. Sometimes, things, like people, need a second chance. A Renaissance. Sometimes only the dimensional, tactile thing tells the full story, and sometimes its helped along by the painted image. Such is the work of my Dimensional/Mixed Media pieces and re-purposed art pieces.
My Mixed-Media work is sometimes the most rewarding art I do from a pure enjoyment standpoint. I love the idea of experimenting, of making mistakes, of jamming disparate things together to make new and more wonderful things. And sometimes I just need a break from the tedious work of painting on a canvas all day. I have a pleathora of materials all around me, some partially crafted by nature and others by man—and it's like I get to figure out how to put them together, resullting in some pretty cool Southwestern-themed and other 3D Mixed Media pieces that you get to experience by sight AND touch.
